What is habit stacking?

Habit stacking is a proven productivity technique that pairs a new, desired behavior with an existing, automatic daily routine. By using an established habit as a natural trigger, you bypass the need for relying on willpower, making it significantly easier to build consistent routines.

After I pour my morning coffee, I will write down my top priority for the day. The coffee is the trigger; the new habit stacks right on top.

How the app works

  1. Add a habit and the date you started it.
  2. Keep your streak — the app tracks how many days you've kept each habit.
  3. Earn Belts up - As you keep your habit for longer, you will achieve certain milestones and just like in karate, you wil earn new belts for each habit. For example, when you create a new habit, you will get a white belt, if you keep that habit for 24 hours, then you will get a yellow belt, etc. If you keep a habit for a year you will get a black belt and each year after that you will get a red stripe. you earn belts along the way:
Time Kept Belt Color Achieved
New habit White
24 hours Yellow
2 weeks Orange
1 month Green
2 months Blue
3 months Brown
6 months Red
1 year Black

Over time, your habits will stack and change colors as you achieve new belts for keeping habits past each milestone. Each milestone represents a significant achievement that is scientifically proven to improve your ability to build new habits and pyschologically stick to the ones you already have. This method has been successfully used by millions of people to build new habits, including the famous Alcoholics Anonymous programs. Below is an example of how a habit can stack and change colors over time.
